What is Petroleum?
Petroleum is the hydrocarbon mixture produced in the nature as liquid, or what results from refining it.
The natural liquid hydrocarbon mixture is called crude oil, and the crude oil is refined to make petroleum products like gasoline, naphtha, diesel, kerosene and heavy oil. This crude oil and the products, obtained by processing the crude oil, are called petroleum or petroleum products.

What is crude oil?
The liquid hydrocarbon mixture obtained from the underground oil stratum is called crude oil.
Its main component is reddish brown or dark brown high-viscosity hydrocarbon mixed with sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen. As for the properties of the reddish brown crude oil, according to the chemical petroleum specific classification system of the American Petroleum Institute (API), crude oil is classified into light oil if the specific gravity is greater than 33 degrees; intermediate oil if it is between 30 and 33 degrees; and heavy oil if it is lower than 30 degrees.
What is Naphtha?
It is a hydrocarbon mixture, effused when the boiling point of crude oil reaches the range of 35-2200C
Naphtha is similar to gasoline. When crude oil is distilled, it is effused between the LPG and kerosene cut, and when it is used as feedstock in the petrochemical industry, it is called naphtha. It is mostly used as feedstock for the petrochemical industry, and part of it is used to make fertilizers or public gas by synthesizing ammonia.
Naphtha, used as main feedstock for the petrochemical industry, is classified into the light naphtha, whose boiling point is 35~130℃; heavy naphtha, whose boiling point is 130~220℃; and full-range naphtha, containing both these two types of naphtha. Naphtha is used as feedstock for pyrolysis (NCC) to produce ethylene, propylene, butadiene, benzene, toluene and xylene that are basic feedstock for petrochemistry. They are in turn used to make a wide range of products including synthetic resins, synthetic rubber, synthetic fiber, dye and medicine.
Naphtha is mostly composed of mixtures that have 5~12 carbons.
